Hello, first of all, welcome to our country. Our country is very, very beautiful. You will understand this when you travel. Most of our people are very sweet people. But as everywhere, there are not bad people. We come into play at this point to fight with bad and malicious people.Unfortunately, there is a group of bad people in taxi drivers. In addition to tourists, we also have a lot of difficulties with this situation. We overcome it somehow, but we have prepared a calculation tool so that you don’t have to deal with them, but you have come to travel. The data of this calculation tool is the same as the data uploaded to the taximeter. It is the data taken from the institution called UKOME (official institution) and is up-to-date for 2024.
In the meantime, our main site Gezelim.me is a useful site that introduces luxury hotels in Istanbul and also provides a lot of information about places to visit in Istanbul. We recommend that you look at our site using Fakt language Turkish translation applications.

The tariff specified in the table above applies 24 hours a day for both daytime and nighttime fares, and no additional charges can be requested from the passenger beyond the set fees.
Bridge tolls, bus terminal exit fees, and charges for toll roads are all paid by the passenger.
If the Eurasia Tunnel is requested for trips between the Asian and European sides, the passenger must pay the tunnel toll in addition to the return bridge toll (15 July Martyrs Bridge or Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge) for the driver’s return to the Asian side.
Important Tips for Using Taxis in Istanbul
- Tipping is not required. However, drivers in Istanbul often round up the fare.
- Know the approximate fares to major destinations in Istanbul and use a navigation app to ensure the driver isn’t taking unnecessary detours to increase the fare.
- Always carry small bills, as one of the common scams involves swapping larger bills with smaller ones (e.g., you give 50₺, but the driver claims you gave 5₺).
- Never agree on a flat fare unless you are absolutely sure of the total cost of your journey. Fixed fares are almost always higher than what the meter would calculate.
- No additional fees apply for nighttime rides.
- Always check that the taximeter has been reset when you get into the taxi.
- Avoid accepting rides from unofficial taxis or private cars offering to take you.
- The fare is calculated per ride, not per passenger.
- Some tourist areas in Istanbul are pedestrian-only zones, so be mindful of where you’ll need to be dropped off.
- When crossing the Bosphorus bridges from the European to the Asian side, you will need to pay a toll. However, there is no toll for the return trip to the European side.
Bridge and Tunnel Toll Fees (as of January 1, 2024)
- 15 July Martyrs Bridge & Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge: 1.75 TL (now charged in both directions)
- Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge: 120 TL
- Eurasia Tunnel: 153 TL
